WAYS TO NOURISH & HONOR THE FEMININE DIVINE

Do you give away your feminine power too easily? Is this showing up on your skin and hair?

Our feminine energy is the driving force behind creativity, unbridled possibilities and inner transformation, whilst our masculine energy helps us take action towards carrying out our inspired desires. In these extraordinary times, we explore the importance of feminine personal power, why it’s over-looked, how to regain it by moving beyond constraints into empowered ways of being, with lifestyle journalist and Integrative health coach, Rosie Underwood.

There are qualities and principles towards masculine and feminine energies, and just like Yin and Yang, sun to moon, sky to ground, we need both to be integrated and balanced physically, emotionally and spiritually. It’s imperative that in a modern world, where the masculine ideals such as assertiveness and competitiveness are prioritised and praised that we learn to nurture, nourish and heal the feminine energy. Our wellbeing is dependent on the way we think, live and behave. Because our primal instincts don’t tend to lend themselves to modern society, too many of us are spiralling into stress, giving away our feminine energy too easily. This not only makes us feel at a loss, it instantly shows up in our skin, hair and eyes.

Look to Mother nature…

The most prominent source of the feminine is in Mother nature. There is so much power and potential when both feminine and masculine energies work in harmony and that’s exactly how nature works, its flawless in the process. Nothing in nature takes more than it needs, if it does, it becomes subject to that law and it dies off. The synchronicities of night to day, the shift in seasons and the circle of life all work in pure potentiality because of these energies being balanced. The moon, water and night-time are the perfect representations of the Yin, feminine, cyclical energy. The feminine energy is life force energy, so the ocean, forests, even parks are abundant with it to help you revitalise.

Look to beauty and the sensations nature provides

In the Amazon, the home of Rahua, the Indigenous women of the tribes embody natural beauty in not just the way they appear, but in the way that they think and act. Daily, they take time to honour Mother nature in all her natural beauty.  Women are natural caregivers, nurturers, healers and team players. This innate capacity is alive in every single one of us we just need to learn how to ignite it. There are certain sensations you can bask in, that only time in nature can give you to boost the feminine, like swimming in cold water, forest bathing, or grounding (walking on the earth with no shoes on) and practicing full moon and new moon rituals.

Switch up your thinking and nurture the feminine

Focus on positive thoughts to trigger a release of feel good neurochemicals. I’m not bi-passing or disregarding painful things that happen in the world, but when we realise that we’re the master of our emotions, and that life happens for us and not to us, we can always control our mindset regardless of outside circumstances. Instead of saying ‘I have to’ change it to ‘I get to’ and remind yourself not to ‘should’ all over yourself. When things happen that are inherently negative, it opens up the space for change. It gives us visibility into areas of our life that could use more attention, and help us focus on taking positive actions from the experience. Ask yourself what you’re learning, and remind yourself that integrity is choosing courage over comfort.

Treat your body like garden and implement radical self-care

Your body has a language, it’s a physical language, it doesn’t scream, it whispers and once you understand it, you can move beyond anything.  It’s telling you when to re-group, take stock and give back its life force energy and balance. Boosting oxytocin and nurturing ourselves like we would our families, companies we work within, and gardens we grow from can have a hugely profound impact on our feminine personal power. Small changes can make a big difference, just like soil in a garden, if we neglect it, if it’s not nutrient rich, we can’t grow from it. On a smaller scale, our scalp is the soil from which the roots of our hair can grow from. I take time to nurture my hair and scalp like I would the skin on my face with The Omega 9 Hair Mask so that my hair is fortified from root to tip. It’s not a vanity project, it’s a small act of self care that goes a long way.

Check in with yourself, then speak up and get to know the power of your own voice

It’s important to recognise that nothing can take away from who you came here to be. So, let go of that idea. Becoming immobilised by self-doubt makes us crave sugar and salt and the depletion shows up in your eyes, hair and skin. Your hair is a non-essential tissue so when we start to feel drained, it’s the first thing to take the hit. When you find yourself in these moments, a good way to break through is to keep your body moving to reintroduce balance into your life. If you find you become immobilised by self doubt, always come back to the breath, your prana. Our Prana is our life force energy, and it has a currency. If we spend it all, we become broke. Just sitting with the breath, feeling the contraction and expansion of the lower belly, letting your body naturally pull the breath deeper and filling yourself up again will activate the parasympathetic nervous system, taking you out of fight or flight and away from ‘fear mode,’ taking the blood flow and life force energy back to your internal organs and way from your arms and your legs. It’s so simple, but you’ll instantly feel more whole and emotionally richer.

Ask yourself, are you withholding your voice? Are you withholding your true potential by saying yes when you mean no? Are you withholding energy? Or are you giving it away? Are you playing too small? Reclaim yourself by being in your power. Don’t hold back, let go of past ways of being, we need to stop projecting those narratives into our future and be strong in who we are and who we came here to be. Just like the Indigenous people of the Amazon. Stand in the truth of who you are, and your body and mind will thank you for it.
